Framus S 296
Up for your consideration today is a very cool mid '60s Framus S 296 12-String! This one sounds great and is a very nice example of German luthierie from this peroid. With a unique arched back and foward slanted headstock, it is certianly eye catching.
The neck is joined at the 15th fret, giving you a little bit of a longer "feel". It appears to be all original, although it has recieved a bridge reset in it's past. The bridge is well affixed, however there is a small bit of seperation starting around the bottom. The neck set looks good with no visible seperation, and the top shows fairly minimal distortion for it's age. The string height could be described as "medium" with it being slightly higher up the neck past the 12th fret, although not alarmingly so. It plays nicely in the places that you likely would being a folk guitar.
It comes to us in very nice cosmetic condition for its age, with a bit of finish "checking" on the top - however this was clearly a very well taken care of piece. With it is what appears to be the original chipboard case, which is a notch nicer than other chipboard cases typically seen of this era; with attractive red lining and storage compartment. Also present is the original factory literature/warranty card, as well as the original reciept - all of which will be included with sale.
