1979 Fender/Dimarzio Vintage Partscaster

Check this out! Here we have a very special vintage partscaster comprised of some quite desireable components. This is one that could probably be parted off for more, but we felt it had some killer mojo as is.

Firstly, we have a 1979 Fender Stratocaster neck - it is in overall nice shape for the year, with the finish showing well. Obviously with the 4 bolt body it has recieved a set of additional screw holes in the heel in order to be mounted. The micro tilt disk has been removed from the neck, and it has recieved a refret with medium jumbo fretwire, in keeping with the shredable nature of this guitar are a vast improvement over the original skinny Fender frets. The original F-Stamp tuners are present, and function well as they should.

Arguably the coolest part about this guitar is the body, which is an old DiMarzio/Charvel - which as far as we can tell is from circa 1980; a nice match up with the '79 neck. It has a gorgous quilted maple top which is about is thick as the binding. These have been come quite hard to find in recent years, and certianly holds some signifigant value on its own. The bridge is the original '79 Fender Strat tremolo- again holding some value as well. The body shows some signs of use to include yellowing of the binding, some strum wear through the finish to the right of the strings, a bit of buckle rash as well as some various other dings/scratches. The pickups are old active EMGs - the body would have been a factory SSS layout, and an "amateur" routing job has been done to accomidate the humbucker. This is mostly covered by the pickup ring, and isn't glaringly ugly on the stand. The body has an old set of nickel Schaller locking strap pegs installed, which look right and include the corrosponding strap components.

It plays nicely as it is, with string height at about 5/64" at the 12th fret with plenty of room in the saddles to adjust according to your preference. The neck is straight, and overall this one has an undeniable 80's rock machine vibe reminiscent of the dawn of California super-strat building.
