*PAID* Vox AC50 MKII Head ca. 1964
A sweet example of an early JMI AC50 MKII! This one being a bit more desirable with the tube rectifier - with Vox using diodes in some of the later models; giving it a bit more warmth and and character. The MKII features two channels, normal and brilliant, with both featuring the "Top Boost" circuit.
This one is in very clean shape, cosmetically showing a life that has seen care in a studio environment. The amp has seen an older recap based on the capacitors used - with new power supply caps as well as a few on the board. Sonically the amp is awesome, with a bit of a warm Fendery sound at lower volumes - staying clean until about halfway up the volume, at which point you'll find some sweet sounding breakup with increasing saturation up the volume.
It appears to be mostly original, with the exception of some screws holding the back panel on. The XLR outs are still present, along with the impedance selection. This is a great way to get into a vintage Vox for less than the more popular models such as an AC30 - particularly seeing how clean this example is!
