2013 Ibanez Destroyer DT520FM
Here’s one you don’t see every day! This 2013 Ibanez Destroyer is something of a rare beast, harkening back to an original Ibanez design of the late 70s/early 80s. It has an undeniable mojo, with a beautiful top, cool inlays, and a general mystique that evokes lust and curiosity amongst a sea of Fenders and Gibsons.
This one features dual DiMarzio pickups; with a Super distortion in the bridge and a PAF in the neck - and though these are correct for this guitar, we are not sure that the neck pickup is original as it would have been covered. Nonetheless, the dual cream DiMarzio look suits this one quite well. These pickups provide plenty of versatility, yielding nice tones ranging from EVH to BB King. Controls are fairly straight forward, with independent volumes for each pickup along with a master tone. It has a nice and dark rosewood board, unique tune-o-matic style bridge and stop tailpiece with little “lockers” that hold the ball end in place while restringing.
This one comes to us in generally good shape, with a bit of cosmetic wear to include various dings, scuffs, and scratches. There is some pitting/oxidation on some of the metal components (bridge posts, etc) but nothing problematic or unusual for a 10+ year old guitar. There is a bit of buckle rash on the back, accompanied by some more minor dings. The profile of the neck looks to have been hit with Scotch Brite to eliminate the “stickiness” of the gloss finish - which was effective in providing the neck with a smooth feel, however the gloss will likely buff itself back over time given enough play. Overall it looks quite nice on the stand or wall, and truly is an attractive guitar that in our opinion is adorn with just the right amount of bling.
It has received a fresh set of D’Addario 9.5-44s and the string height sits at about 5/64” at the 12th fret.
No case.
