Ca. 1979 Fender Stratocaster *S9 Serial CBS Era*
Here is something of a unique one - this circa 1979 Strat certainly has some crazy mojo, likely having seen countless gigs in it's day. The finish looks like it could be original although it is somewhat hard to tell, and is peeling/checking throughout - it may be a candidate for a refin, or leave it as is and let it continue to "relic" naturally. The original pickups are long gone, and it has received a recent set of Vintera 50's pups with new full sized CTS pots. The bridge has been swapped with a denser unit, looking to be from the 80's of unknown origin. The tuners do appear original, as does the neck finish. Dunlop style strap pegs have been added a big sloppily, however are firm and function as they should. The plastics all appear to be original, complete with a serialized "Fender" QC sticker under the pickguard matching the headstock serial.
The frets show some wear, however look original and still play well. We have the string height at a bluesy 6/64" at the 12th and it shows no problems bending or playing up the neck. Cosmetically as stated above, this one is a well-played vintage guitar showing heavy wear throughout. There are some non-problematic cracks inside of the control cavity, and the remaining finish tends to shed/flake if handled roughly.
Due to it's age and the condition of it's finish, it is being sold as-is. I've tried to upload as many relevant photos as possible, however this is a bit tough with the 25 photo limit. Please ask if you'd like photos of any specific area, and ask any questions prior to purchase.
No case.
