Guldan Lap Steel Ca. 1930s

A very cool and collectable vintage lap steel! While this one was not, many of these were sold under the "Epitome" brand - with the signature unique crackle finish; which shows an attractive cream over metallic gold. While not 100% verifiable, the pickups in these were commonly manufactured by Rowe Industries (DeArmond) - and this one sounds truly fantastic with a wonderful growl perfect for blues or country.

This one comes to us in overall good shape for its age, showing some fading of the finish on edges, miscellaneous dings/scratches, as well as a few good sized gouges in the fretboard; which interestingly, has frets, and seemingly has seen several of them replaced over time. The tuners also look to have been replaced several times, and are  currently sealed no-name units which function smoothly. The nut has a chip at the high E side, although this does not seem to impact the tone or resonance of that string and could be left as is.

The intonation on this one is good, and it is a real joy to play currently set up with round wound strings.
