*PAID* 1974 Gibson SG Standard

Up for grabs is a very cool '74 SG with a ton of classic rock mojo. The pickups are killer, and will have you sounding like AC/DC in no time. I digress, this player grade axe is a lot of fun for less than other vintage Gibsons, and would suit any rock or blues player quite well. With subtle nitro checking throughout and just the right amount of wear, it really does have "the look".

The pickups are the original tarbacks - which sound absolutely fantastic, and really just nail that 70s classic rock tone (particular the bridge pup). The pots date to '74, and the wiring looks to be original. The bridge looks to be a replacement and possibly the tailpiece. The tuners are the correct early Grover Rotomatics, and the frets appear to be original as well. This one has an ebony fretboard, which has a great feel.

There is an old headstock repair which while not the prettiest, is stable and the guitar has no issues holding tune. The neck heel shows some glued cracks, which also appear stable. It should be noted that the bridge is adjusted as low as it can go, and while it plays pretty well currently with a string height of about .070" at the 12th fret high E, going lower would likely require a neck reset - or at least some creative modifications to the bridge. It is worth noting though that the guitar feels nice to play as is, and the neck profile is great; with a little more chunkiness than you might usually associate with 70s Gibson. Otherwise, the guitar shows as you'd expect a 50+ year old rock 'n' roll machine to; with various dings/scratches. It is certainly by no means "clean", but then, what good vintage guitar is- the good ones get played!
